Ehud Barak: ‘We will negotiate with Hamas if they halt terror’

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Israel is ready to negotiate with a Palestinian unity government that would include Hamas if the Islamist movement agrees to the Quartet conditions, which include recognition of Israel and of past agreement and an end to violence.

“The continuation of the peace process is in the interest of Israel, the Palestinians and the world,” Barak said. “If Hamas adopts the Quartet’s conditions and dismantles its terror infrastructure, we will negotiate with them.”
