Jewish American publisher faces criticism for suggesting Netanyahu consider the assassination of President Obama

US President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

A recent column by the publisher of the Atlanta Jewish Times, Andrew Adler, has created a firestorm. In “What would you do?”, Adler suggested the assassination of U.S. President Barack Obama as a way for Israel to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

The U.S. Secret Service did not comment on whether Andrew Adler’s suggestion is deemed a potential threat to the president but they are conducting an investigation. National Jewish Democratic Council President, David Harris said that it was the height of irresponsibility to make such horrific suggestion.

Adler clarified that he wanted to see what kind of reaction he would receive from readers. He also expressed regret and said he wished he hadn’t made reference to it at all.

Top-level Jewish fundraisers from Obama’s 2008 campaign confirmed that they are sticking with the President in 2012.
