More Arab MKs met with Hamas official

Israeli Knesset (Parliament)

Following the outrage by many Israeli lawmakers at MK Hanin Zoabi’s meeting with a Hamas official, it appears that MKs Masud Ganaim and Ibrahim Sarsur, who belong to the party United Arab List-Ta’al, had met Hamas official Aziz Dwaik after he was released from an Israeli prison in 2009 to offer their support.

While Likud MK and chairman of the Knesset house committee Yariv Levin asked the Attorney General to take a firm hand and put an end to the MKs excesses, describing them as sponsors of terror, the Arab MKs have justified the meetings by claiming that it involved political figures fighting against the occupation. Ganaim says that Knesset members are allowed to visit a person who was wrongly arrested, noting that the Palestinian council and the rift between Fatah and Hamas issues were the main discussions.
