Nine hurt during demolition of illegal West Bank outpost

Violent clashes erupted on Wednesday night when Israeli police undertook the evacuation of an illegal West Bank outpost. Six settlers and three police officers were injured as security forces tried to evacuate the six houses in Yissa Bracha near the settlement of Mitzpe Yericho. While settlers said they protested peacefully and were attacked by the police, security forces say they encountered violence upon their arrival.

MK Michael Ben Ari accused Defense Minister Barak and Prime Minister Netanyahu of an “obsessive” campaign against settlers: “Since the period of the [Gaza] disengagement, there has not been this kind of systematic action,” he said. “Expelling babies in the middle of the nightand injuring residents only serves to encourage the youth to carry out harsh price tag responses.”
